How do you join?
As mentioned above, the running club uses the facilities of Chapel Allerton Lawn Tennis and Squash Club and therefore first and foremost, you need to be a member. Memberships are available for tennis, squash, gym or the whole package – any of these will give you access to the running club, the changing facilities and the best bit, the restaurant and bar! However, if racquets, small balls and gyms aren’t your thing, you can join Chapel A as a social member, to allow you membership of Chapel A Runners.
A pack is available from the main reception that sets out the full details and requirements for social membership. Principally you must be proposed and seconded – existing members of the running club can do this for you. Sounds a bit complicated but it’s quite simple really and the annual cost of social membership is currently just £50 – that's less than £1 a week and far more value than a months worth of satellite telly! In addition our annual running subscription is £10.
Not only are the facilities excellent, but as a member of an affiliated running club, you will qualify for discounted race entry fees and also discounts on running gear at a number of specialist outlets, such as Up & Running. As a result your £10 can easily be recovered.
Being the nice people we are, we have long since adopted a try before you buy policy. Therefore if you feel you couldn’t run a bath, but fancy giving it a whirl, or even if you’re experienced and want to put us through our paces, we suggest you simply turn up on a convenient Wednesday evening and come for a run with us. You can meet the “great and the good” of the club, come for a drink afterwards and check out the facilities to see if you like us before signing your legs away. Indeed come along for a couple of Wednesdays or so, to make sure we are the running club for you.
We are a laid back bunch and you’ll find a friendly group of runners of all ages and all levels of experience, from the fresh faced whippersnappers being annoyingly fast, to the old timers who between them have run everything from the Everest Marathon (yes – really!) to the Race for Life 5K. As a result you’re sure to find a running buddy, whatever your goals and standard. We concentrate on running, going for those personal best times, but most of all having a good time.
For more information about membership please fill in the contacts page on this website leaving a contact telephone number and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
